The Challenge

Marcou Construction, a seasoned contract crushing operation based in Dunbarton, New Hampshire, faced increasing demands from major aggregate producers for fully desegregated stockpiles.

Traditional methods of using loaders, dozers, and conventional radial stackers to build stockpiles were proving inefficient, labor-intensive, and prone to material segregation, which could lead to costly penalties and rework.

To maintain their competitive edge and meet the stringent requirements of their high-profile clients, Marcou Construction needed a more advanced and efficient solution.

The Solution

To address these challenges, Marcou Construction invested in two TeleStacker® Conveyors, including a fully automated model, to replace their older, conventional equipment. The Pile Pro™ Automation on the telescoping conveyors provided significant advantages over standard radial stackers, particularly in their ability to build fully desegregated stockpiles.

The automation package enabled the conveyor to stockpile material in thin, uniform layers (windrows) without the need for additional equipment. The system’s PLC-controlled automation also prevented end-of-pile overrun, ensuring precise and consistent stockpiles. This technology allowed Marcou Construction to meet unique stockpile requirements across various job sites, including creating custom shapes, sizes, and configurations.

The Results

The adoption of the TeleStacker Conveyors transformed Marcou Construction’s operations, providing a significant competitive advantage in the contract crushing market. The automated telescoping conveyors eliminated the issues of material segregation and reduced the labor, time, and expenses associated with maintaining in-spec stockpiles.

The flexibility of the system allowed Marcou Construction to create custom stockpiles, increase production capacity, and reduce operating costs. Additionally, the portability of the TeleStacker Conveyors streamlined site-to-site transitions, further enhancing operational efficiency. As a result, Marcou Construction attracted and retained top-tier clients who valued their commitment to accuracy, quality, safety, and on-time performance, solidifying their reputation as a reliable and innovative leader in the aggregate industry.
