The Challenge

Rilite Aggregate was facing a water management challenge. They needed to efficiently manage crusher fines while dealing with significant water consumption  The company had been washing its concrete sand with a 54-inch twin screw that required 2200-gallons per minute.

"It handles the capacity we need in such a small footprint, allowing us to install the washer without making any modifications to the existing plant.”

Michael Rudolph
Crushing Subcontractor

The Solution

Rilite Aggregate needed an aggressive washing system that could run off available water, which wasn't much! They wanted a lower cost, lower maintenance solution that would limit water use. They had their own well but it only pumped 220 gallons per minute.

Rilite Aggregate reached out to their local Superior equipment dealer, Kimball Equipment, and went to look at another quarry in Michigan to see the Alliance® Low Water Washer in action.

At the Michigan site, Rilite Aggregate ran pre and post wash samples through the new washer, and found that the unit would meet their specification requirements.

The Results

Michael Rudolph, a contractor for Rilite Aggregate, explains that the Alliance Low Water Washer uses about 300 gallons of water per minute, compared to the previous 2,200 gallons per minute with twin sand screws.

The new system also produces material with low moisture content, allowing for same-day sales, unlike the previous 22% moisture content that required a week of drying.

Summing up the biggest advantage – “low water use and large throughput.”
