The Challenge
Anchor Stone's Tulsa Rock Quarry faced significant challenges with their older impact crusher, including frequent maintenance issues, high power consumption, and the constant need to monitor and adjust the feed to prevent downtime.
The impact crusher’s tendency to clog and cause hours of downtime was a major obstacle to operations, requiring nightly inspections and extensive maintenance.
“With the latest cone designs, it’s such a benefit to have a new cone crusher in our plant. In prior years, a piece of metal stuck within the cone demanded the dangerous task of cutting it out with a torch!”
The Solution
To overcome these issues, Tulsa Rock Quarry installed a new automated P500 Patriot® Cone Crusher by Superior Industries, chosen for its innovative design, robust construction, and user-friendly automation.
This upgrade eliminated the frequent maintenance and downtime issues associated with the old impact crusher, while also reducing power consumption.
Neal says that one of the operation’s biggest benefits from the new crushing circuit is being able to make setting adjustments on the fly. “This gives us greater flexibility when we have changes in material feed and allows us to easily tweak material processing within all circuits of the plant. Prior to the new cone, it was challenging to make the same adjustments that we quickly make now with the push of a button,” he says.
The Results
The new cone crusher has significantly boosted Tulsa Rock Quarry’s production capacities, reduced operating costs, and increased plant uptime.
The Vantage® Automation system allows for real-time adjustments to production settings, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency, while the advanced safety features prevent costly machine damage and make operation easier and more reliable.
